SSW #186 – Bugaboo

Happy Boxing Day
to our UK and Canadian friends.
I wanted to share a tradition from MY part of the world. In six days, we will all celebrate the new year but here in the Springs ... we do it a unique way. That's because each year the AdAmAn club climbs the icy slopes of Pikes Peak. This is the mountain made famous by Katherine Lee Bates, who after making her climb penned the song, "America the Beautiful".
At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, AdAmAn members (thus named because each year they "add" a member to their club) ignites a glorious fireworks display from the summit to usher in the New Year. This spectacular fireworks display can be seen for hundreds of miles along the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies and eastern plains. Aside from the fact that it's pretty ... the reason that we Coloradoans are so impressed with AdAmAn is that the climb is often accomplished on icy slopes with wind chills of -50 degrees Fahrenheit. Yikes, that's a tad chilly!
We at Sweet Sketch Wednesday hope that your
 2013 is fantastic!

We had a great response from last week's players. Such WONDERFUL creations were posted that we had a difficult time narrowing it down. But every contest must have a winner and here is last week's winner.

Congratulations ... It's YOU ~ Mynnette

On to this week's challenge...

We are so excited to have Jodi from Bugaboo Stamps as our sponsor this week.  I LOVE Bugaboo stamps.  She seems to have something that fits everyone's crafting style.

Everything That You Ever Wanted to Know About Bugaboo Stamps:

As if raising five children in the frozen land of the North was not enough of a challenge, Jodie Mackrell decided to dip her cold little Canadian toes into the world of paper-crafting by opening an online store full of her illustrations. That was two years ago. Today Bugaboo Stamps is one of the leading companies in digital images, and we're still growing! From seriously snarky to sugary sweet to sublimely soulful all the way over to the other side of the super sexy spectrum, you're bound to find all that you need and more to create your paper projects. Jodie works very hard to provide New Releases and Freebies every week!

Check out all the cool stuff on the Bugaboo website

Our prize this week is 7 (yep, count 'em) SEVEN digistamps from the Bugaboo site.  Yah-hooo!

Here is this week's sketch ... hold on to your britches friends, it's a fun one.

Sweet Sketch Wednesday 185 ~ Digi Stamp Boutique

Hello Sweet Sketch Wednesday followers!  We are so glad to have you visit us again this week!  This is Judi posting for you.  Today is a very special day for me....my 37th wedding anniversary!!!  Where does the time go!  Seems like I was just having my own babies and now I am enjoying my grand babies!

Well, we have less than a week before Christmas arrives.  I hope you are enjoying the holiday season and planning a special day with your family or friends. In light of the terrible tragedy that occurred on Friday in Connecticut with the loss of 20 precious children, 7 adults and the gunman, I hope we will all take a moment and pray for peace in the world and comfort for all those who are suffering from this senseless loss and other tragedies. I know this isn't a religious blog but I do want to say that I believe in a loving Father in Heaven and His son, Jesus Christ, our Savior, who died for each one of us that we may someday return and live with them again. What a privilege it is to celebrate the birth of our Savior and rejoice in His life and the atonement that he has so graciously offered each of us.  He lives and loves each one of us. He is the Light and Hope of the world.  May your holiday be bright with new hope for better days ahead.  Remember to give your children, grand children and all your loved ones an extra hug tonight!

Sweet Sketch Wednesday #184 - A Day for Daisies

Welcome Wednesday!!  Hope you have had a great week/weekend and are full swing into Christmas preparations and celebrations!!  I went on a local churches house tour this past Sunday afternoon.  So much fun going thru four houses and seeing the individuality in styles and decorations.  With Christmas being the celebration of our Savior's birth, I just love seeing all the different Nativitys!!  Each home had at least one Nativity set displayed, some in the kitchen, living room or dining rooms...  the one that struck me the most was on a dresser in a bedroom, very simply displayed.  The Owner told my friend and I that it was from Africa where her daughter had served as a short-term missionary.  The pieces are all crafted from corn husks - so very delicate.

I love the simplicity of this Nativity!!

On to our Challenge...

I loved all of your creations last week and would like to say a big CONGRATS to DEANNA #5, last week's winner!!
